- COMPETITION
- General Rules:
All teams must submit a copy of their USA Hockey Roster when arriving at the rink for their first game.
USA Hockey rules apply. For a complete set of rules, see the Games Youth Hockey rules. Referees are USA Hockey certified. This is a USA Hockey sanctioned tournament. WAHA registered teams - Players must not be affiliated in any way with WIAA. WAHA high school teams must be comprised of players that are currently enrolled in high school. Out of state teams accepted on a waiting list basis if needed.
WISCONSIN RESIDENTS ONLY
- Format:
Random draw determines position in pool. WAHA divisions will be used for tournament pairings. Divisions (mite, bantam, etc.) and levels (1A, 1B, etc.) may be combined based on registration numbers and will participate at designated venues (see locations). A pool for each level (1A, 1B, etc.) will be formed when registration numbers allow. The pool winners will then be seeded into a combined medal round. Example: Bantam 3A-5 teams, 4A-5 teams, 1B-5 teams, 2B-5 teams. Each division will play in a 5 team pool, with the 1st place team from each advancing to the medal round. Medal round games-1st pool 3A vs. 1st 4A and 1st 1B vs. 1st 2B, the winner of each game advances to the gold/silver game and the losers play for the bronze medal.
If there are not enough teams for a pool (minimum three), the teams will be pooled according to their division in order to fulfill a pool. Example: Squirt 3B has 4 teams so they will be their own 4 team pool. Squirt 4B has 2 teams, Squirt 1C has 1 team, Squirt 2C has 1 team; they will be combined to make a 4 team pool. BSG will run two 4 team pools with the two first place teams advancing to the gold/silver and the two second place teams playing for bronze. This format listed gives The American Family Insurance Badger State Games the flexibility to accommodate as many teams as possible while still staying within competitive levels. The American Family Insurance Badger State Games tournament size is based on entries at the time of deadline. Teams are accepted on a first come first serve basis. A lottery system is not in place like it has been previously
